Tramping poem

WALT write for an audience. One challenge that I have when writing poetry is using interesting vocabulary and using te reo māori and things like personification.

Tramping

    Weighty Pack

Choppy rivers and creeks

Stones feel like concrete

Towering totara

Dwarfing many others

Delicious kai

Playing games to pass te taima

Tired aching legs

Awaiting a rest

Pahoka is in sight

Night, nearly here

Snaking my way into my sleeping bag
Listening to miserable clouds

Tangi on the steel roof

  • Emma

Tangi- crying

Pahoka- Hut

Taima- Time

Totara- Type of tree

Kai- Food
